About Hope

Hope Giselle is a trailblazing activist, author, and speaker who has dedicated her life to advocating for marginalized communities, particularly within the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Born on August 2, 1993, in Miami, Florida, she has Haitian and Cuban heritage.  

 

Hope’s academic journey is marked by resilience and groundbreaking achievements. She attended Alabama State University, a historically Black institution, where she co-founded and governed the university’s first LGBT organization, challenging the conservative environment to create a more inclusive campus. She made history as the first openly trans woman to earn both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts from the university.   Furthering her expertise, Hope obtained certifications from Harvard University and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), equipping her with a robust foundation in diversity and inclusion practices.  

Professional Endeavors and Advocacy

In 2022, Hope launched AllowMe, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the personal and professional growth of young LGBTQ+ individuals of color.   Her role as Training Director at Get Phluid allows her to influence corporate cultures by promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives.   Additionally, she serves as the Communications Director for the GSA Network and, as of August 2024, holds the positions of Executive Director, President, and CEO of the National Trans Visibility March, amplifying transgender voices on national platforms.  

 

Hope’s consulting portfolio includes collaborations with esteemed organizations such as NASA, the Human Rights Campaign, Freedom for All Americans, ITEquality, and TransTech Social Enterprises. Her expertise has been instrumental in developing policies and programs that promote equity and representation for marginalized communities.  

Literary Contributions

As an author, Hope has penned two memoirs that delve into her experiences and insights:
 

  • “Becoming Hope: Removing the Disguise” (2018): This memoir chronicles her journey of self-discovery and acceptance as a Black trans woman in the South.  
     

  • “Until I Met Black Men” (2021): In this work, Hope explores the intersections of race and gender, challenging stereotypes and advocating for deeper understanding within the Black community.

Historic Milestones

Hope’s advocacy has led her to several historic milestones:
 

  • NASA Keynote Speaker: She became the first Black, openly transgender woman to deliver a keynote speech at NASA, marking a significant moment in the organization’s commitment to diversity.  
     

  • March on Washington Speaker: In August 2023, Hope made history as the first Black, openly transgender woman to speak at the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in the ongoing fight for civil rights.  
     

  • NYC Pride Grand Marshal: In June 2023, she served as a Grand Marshal for the New York City Pride March, symbolizing strength and solidarity within the LGBTQ+ community.

Hope’s insights have been featured in various media outlets, including nationally syndicated television, radio, and web series. She has shared her experiences and perspectives as a columnist for several publications, using her platform to spread awareness and encourage others to join the fight for social justice.   Her engaging speaking style and profound messages have made her a sought-after speaker at conferences, universities, and corporate events.

Hope Giselle’s unwavering commitment to advocacy and education has positioned her as a leading voice in the pursuit of equality. Her work continues to inspire individuals and organizations to challenge systemic biases and foster environments where diversity is celebrated and inclusion is the standard.
